The tonnara village
A hundred metres from the square, four from the sea
Four rooms in an eighteenth-century fisherman's house, restored without being scrubbed clean. Breakfast happens in the courtyard, under the pergola, before the village wakes up.
The house
It was a fisherman's house. We took things away, we didn't add.
Marèa sits on a dead-end lane, the kind only cats and residents walk down. The house dates to the 1700s: half-metre stone walls, low vaults, and the courtyard where the nets were once laid out to dry.
The restoration kept what was there — the cement tile floors, the chestnut window frames, the well — and added the things that actually matter: quiet air conditioning, wifi that holds, showers with real pressure and proper mattresses.
We're Rosa and Salvo and we live upstairs. If you need anything, knock — there's no reception desk.

The courtyard
Pergola, iron chairs, jasmine. Breakfast happens here in the morning, and people come back in the evening with a bottle of Nero d'Avola.
The sea, close
La Spinazza beach is a four-minute walk. Beach towels, umbrella and two loungers come with the room, no surcharge.
No reception
We meet you in person when you arrive, then the house is yours. A real key, not a code to memorise.

We'll tell you where the food is good and where it isn't, what time to walk into Vendicari, and which boat to take at sunset.

In the courtyard, eight to half past ten
No buffet under heat lamps. We ask you the evening before what you'd like, and in the morning it's on the table.
Almond or mulberry granita with a brioche col tuppo, still warm from the bakery in Pachino. Sheep's ricotta from Rosolini, homemade orange and prickly-pear jam, russello wheat bread with new oil and sun-dried tomatoes. Eggs if you want them, and as much coffee as you like.
Tell us about intolerances and preferences: gluten-free, vegan and lactose-free are no trouble at all, we just need a day's notice.

Inside the village, not on the edge of it
Marèa is in old Marzamemi, in the pedestrian part. You can drive to within two hundred metres, then you walk — which is exactly why all you hear at night is the sea.

Questions
The things people always ask
What time can I check in?
Between 3 and 8 pm. If you're arriving later just message us — we'll wait up, it's no trouble. Check-out is by 10:30, but you can leave your bags here all day.
Where do I park?
The old village is pedestrian in summer. We have an arrangement with the car park on via Marzamemi, two hundred metres away: 5 euros a day instead of 10. Unload at the door, then go and park.
Do you take pets?
Yes, dogs up to 15 kg at no extra charge. Just tell us in advance so we can put you on the ground floor and have a bowl ready.
Is breakfast included?
Always, in every room and every season. It's served in the courtyard from 8 to 10:30, and if you have to leave earlier we'll pack you something to take along.
